The Transitions and Student Work project has three areas of focus:
- Transitions
- Dual Credits
- Apprenticeship
Transitions explores the feasibility of filling skills shortages in the aviation and aerospace sector through the transition of workers with transferable skills from a comparable sector or from other aviation occupations.
Dual Credits explores the feasibility of the implementation of “dual-credit” programs in selected high schools. Dual credits would be between partnered high schools and colleges that offer aviation and aerospace programs.
Apprenticeship is a scan of existing aviation and aerospace apprenticeship programs (which exist only in Manitoba), and a study of the feasibility of establishing such programs in other provinces.
The Dual Credit and Apprenticeship programs serves both to encourage youth to choose a career in the aviation and aerospace sector and to accelerate their entry into the workforce.
