Jim Penwell
Vice President, Quality, IMP Aerospace and Defense
Since completing the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Program in his home town of Gander, NL, and earning his AME license in 1986, Jim has focused his extensive knowledge of aircraft maintenance on commercial airline technical operations. In his 37 years in the aircraft maintenance industry, Jim has worked with everything from aerial firefighting operations in Ontario to commercial air carriers in the northern and eastern regions of Canada and held the title of Vice President Maintenance for both Air Atlantic and CanJet Airlines. Jim currently holds the position of Vice President of Quality with IMP Aerospace and Defence, and is responsible for the direction, control and administration of the Quality Branch functions associated with establishing and maintaining compliance with applicable standards and certifications including ISO9001:2015, AS9100D and oversight of Transport Canada and EASA issued AMO certificates. In addition to his Quality responsibilities, Jim is also an Advisory Board Member of the Nova Scotia Community College and the College of the North Atlantic Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Programs in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and Gander, NL respectively.
